Grown in Colfiorito, a small town in the centre of Umbria, this Casale 1485 is a polychromatic bean, whose colors vary from cream to black, passing through salmon and shades of mottled brown. It is certainly a unique product, as well as a typical one.
“Fagiolina del Trasimeno” bean is particularly valued for its flavor and its intense taste.
HOW TO USE IT
Having an extremely thin cuticle and being tiny in size, means that it does not require long soak time, and is cooked in about 30 minutes. It is generally prepared boiled, seasoned with a little salt and extra virgin olive oil to fully appreciate the characteristic flavour. Or you can otherwise make a delicious fresh pasta with sausage, or add to a tomato salad.
WHY WE LOVE IT
It has a very unique flavour and great consistency, it is one of those products better appreciated on its own, with a bruschetta, garlic and some delicious extra virgin olive oil. To us, this is the ultimate test, and this Fagiolina del Trasimeno passed it with flying colours!
INGREDIENTS
100% Fagiolina del Trasimeno Beans from Colfiorito, Umbria.
ORIGIN
Casale1485 is located in Casale delle Macchie near Colfiorito, a small town in the centre of Italy, in the region Umbria, close to Tuscany and not more than two hours far from Rome and Florence. The number 1485 refers to the year in which the first written documents concerning the Casale delle Macchie date back.
Distinctive conditions such as a soil rich in minerals, a specific altitude that ranges from 780 m and 850 m and mild temperatures allow the area around Colfiorito to be an unequalled area for cereals and pulses.
