Monte Maletto is a one-man band run by 34 year old Gian Marco Viano, undoubtedly one of the future superstars of the wine scene. Before starting the cantina Gian Marco worked as a professional sommelier for over 7 years: he now practices organic vinification in the Alps between Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta, with minimal intervention on the vines and later on, in the cantina.
His wines are produced in the hundreds, not the thousands units, making us incredibly honoured to have these 2 cases available. Hopefully more will be coming soon, but in the meantime enjoy this one of a kind bottle.
Carema is a small town located between Valle d’Aosta and Piedmont. Carema is an extreme area: rocky, steep, insidious and the vinification here is very challenging. The cultivable areas here are very small, literally carved from the mountains, at between 300 and 700 meters altitude.
||Great for aperitivo, with cold and warm appetisers. Also goes well with shellfish and grilled fish. Soft and seasoned cheese from Piedmont are a wonderful experience too.
||Crisp and mineral, with medium structure, balanced acidity, and a pleasantly long bittersweet after taste.
||Deep yellow with green hues.
||Rich and complex with notes of ripe apple, peach, pear, honeysuckle and crushed white flowers.
||Alcoholic fermentation with 30 days maceration in stainless-steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. 30% whole bunches.
||In old 225 litre barrels for 11 months; bottled late Summer.
Please note. Our wine selection is dispatched from a different warehouse than the rest of the range. A case is made of 6 bottles.
